Critical Processing Requirements

Drying: Mandatory at 80-110°C for 2-3 hours (moisture ≤0.2%) to prevent bubbling and surface defects

Melt Temperature: 190-210°C (±5°C tolerance) - degradation occurs above 230°C

Mold Temperature: 80-120°C for homopolymer, 80-110°C for copolymer

Automotive Applications

Fuel Systems: Resistant to gasoline, diesel, and biofuels (service life 10+ years)

Window Mechanisms: Low friction and high wear resistance for regulator systems

Engine Components: Under-hood parts withstand continuous 120°C operation

Chemical Resistance

Solvent Resistance: Excellent resistance to hydrocarbons, alcohols, and ketones

Acid/Alkali Resistance: Limited resistance to strong acids and bases

UV Stability: Requires UV stabilizers for outdoor applications

Aluminum Alloys for Machining

LML offers several aluminum alloys in its long list of available manufacturing materials. Two of those alloys are especially well-suited material options for CNC machining, whether milling or turning: Aluminum 6061 and 7075.Aluminum 7075 T651 and T7: Benefits include high strength, hardness, low weight, corrosion resistance, and high heat tolerance. See data sheet for more information.Aluminum 2024 T3: This high-strength alloy offers a high strength-to-weight ratio and high corrosion resistance.
