Key Technical Notes

Barrier Properties: Light transmittance >88% with medium barrier performance (O₂ permeability: 50-90 cm³·mm/(m²·d·MPa))[6](@ref)

Enhanced Grades: 30% Glass Fiber Reinforced PET increases HDT to >180°C and flexural strength to 200 MPa[5](@ref)

Chemical Limitations: Susceptible to hydrolysis in high-temperature steam and alkaline environments[4,5](@ref)

Primary Applications

Packaging: Carbonated drink bottles (pressure-resistant), medical packaging (sterilization-tolerant)[1,3](@ref)

Electronics: Transformer bobbins, connectors (volume resistivity >10¹⁴ Ω·cm)[2,6](@ref)

Industrial Parts: Gears, pump housings (superior wear resistance vs. nylon)[5,6](@ref)

Processing Requirements

Drying: Mandatory at 120-150°C for 3-4 hours (moisture ≤0.02%)[6](@ref)

Melt Temperature: 260-290°C (±5°C tolerance)[1](@ref)

Mold Temperature: 60-80°C to optimize crystallinity (30-40%)[4](@ref)

Aluminum Alloys for Machining

LML offers several aluminum alloys in its long list of available manufacturing materials. Two of those alloys are especially well-suited material options for CNC machining, whether milling or turning: Aluminum 6061 and 7075.Aluminum 7075 T651 and T7: Benefits include high strength, hardness, low weight, corrosion resistance, and high heat tolerance. See data sheet for more information.Aluminum 2024 T3: This high-strength alloy offers a high strength-to-weight ratio and high corrosion resistance.
